Custom lighting for the fleet of Ireland’s flag carrier airline
As part of a line of recent innovations introduced at Aer Lingus, the airline chose to invest in enhancing the comfort of their guests with a fully customised mood lighting system – enter Cobalt Spectrum.
Creating the perfect passenger environment
Great cabin lighting isn’t only about improving the aesthetics of a passenger’s journey; it’s also about ensuring their comfort and creating a relaxing environment for them to travel in. Since early 2018, we’ve been working with Aer Lingus to help their fleet do just that.
Guests on Ireland’s only four-star airline can benefit from class-leading LED mood lighting, programmed to set an ideal ambience on each phase of the flights. Whether on a short or long journey, Aer Lingus passengers can experience carefully curated lighting scenes that are designed to minimise the effects of jet lag and deliver them to their destination refreshed and relaxed. A lavender scene creates a calm and ambient cabin, blue tones help passengers to feel at ease during boarding and disembarking and, for passengers flying long-haul, a sunset orange scene mimics the setting sun to gently energise and prepare guests for landing.
Complementing the brand experience
We worked closely with the Aer Lingus team to test thousands of colour variations, taking into account the furnishings, food, cabin crew uniforms and more. Each lighting scene was designed to both complement Aer Lingus’ new, refreshed brand and to enhance the cabin during various times of the flight.

Of course, we couldn’t work with Ireland’s flag carrier airline without adding an extra special ‘promotional mode’. Selected Aer Lingus aircraft can be lit with their brand teal colour, flooding the cabin with spectacular emerald green light. Look out for it during special events!
